Consulting

Photography Assignments or Consultation:

Roy is available for shoots that might require:

  1. Motion-freezing flash applications – ballistics, water splashes, explosions (from popping champagne corks to gun muzzles, and everything in between)
  2. Remote photography applications – game monitoring, wildlife observation, explosions, demolition
  3. Wildlife applications – stalking and capturing images of elusive nocturnal mammals, reptiles etc.
  4. Though not necessarily apropos of this site, he also does fine art portrait photography (See here)
  5. In fact, he is pretty much up for anything…..

Flash Gear

He owns a wide spectrum of flash gear, from 0.5uS duration EG&G Microflash systems, which are capable of freezing the motion of supersonic projectiles, to the custom VHSF system – a 20uS duration flash with gorgeous soft light, plenty of power, and fast enough to stop any splashes, insects, or whatever. He has a full 6 head set of Fotronix SL-80 high speed flashes (60uS flash duration), and a gamut of hotshoe/hammerhead flashes, from Vivitar 285′s, to Canon 580EX and 580EXII‘s, to a host of Sunpak 544, 555 and 622′s. Then of course, he also has a couple of Metz 60CT4′s with lithium ion battery packs. He also has several Cokin Creative Macro Flashes, along with the Canon MT-24EX Twinlite Macro Speedlite.

For studio work, he has 3 x Paul C. Buff Einstein flash heads and 4 x Paul C. Buff White Lightning Ultras, and a host of light modifiers.

Remote Triggering Gear

About a dozen sets of TrailMastermonitoring systems, an LPA Design WaveSensor, a Mumford Time Machine and a couple of Cognisys-Inc StopShots, all replete with a wide range of sensors. He also uses a couple of custom designed acoustic, laser and infrared triggers.
