Techniques Overview
I am a very technical photographer – after all, I am a geeky electronic engineer. I have always been fascinated and enthralled by remote photography applications especially – somehow making the subject or the event photograph itself. To obtain an image of a bobcat strolling along a forest trail at night that appears tack sharp, naturally (moon) lit and interesting, one has to spend a long time in preparation. Similarly with ballistics – if you are going to capture the instant that an air pellet, bullet or other projectile impacts its target, you need to have total control of all the possible variables, and this requires preparation.
This section of the Quickblink website is dedicated to some of the techniques I employ in different photographic circumstances. I haven’t tended to document many of my setups in the past, but promise to do so moving forward. A picture is often worth several paragraphs…..
I will cover:
- Nocturnal mammal photography – especially lighting
- High Speed Flash Photography using standard flash equipment (Yes! You can do it!)
- Balloon popping and similar situations
- Various clever setups using the Cognisys Inc. StopShot remote trigger system – the best on the market today
- First level hummingbird photography
- Simple droplet (splash) photography
- Advanced droplet photography
- Other techniques as I employ them
Be aware that my workshops go into much greater depth and breadth for these techniques – feel free to peruse any upcoming sessions.
